| Paper | Code | Structure | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pure mathematics | H240/01 | One section, mixed short and long questions | 100 |
| Pure mathematics and statistics | H240/02 | Two sections of about 50 marks. Some statistics items use the pre-release data set | 100 |
| Pure mathematics and mechanics | H240/03 | Two sections of about 50 marks | 100 |
Pure mathematics is not confined to Paper 1. Papers 2 and 3 each open with a pure section. Statistics and mechanics are the second half of those papers, not a third paper of their own. If you are sitting Mathematics B (MEI), stop here and use that page. The unit codes and the 75-mark comprehension paper do not transfer.

What to do with a marked paper
OCR publishes an examiner's report with the series. Read the questions the report says the cohort missed, then drill those topics from the topic index. The formulae you are given are printed at the front of the H240 question paper. The formula booklet page explains how that differs from Edexcel and AQA.
The June 2026 H240 qualification boundary was 250 for A* and 208 for A, out of 300. Component rows in the same PDF are notional. See grade boundaries, or go back to all maths boards.
Questions people ask
- Is OCR A the same as OCR MEI?
- No. Mathematics A is H240. Mathematics B (MEI) is H640. The papers, the comprehension component and the grade boundaries are different.
- Where is the formula booklet?
- For H240 the formulae sheet is printed in each question paper. There is a separate page for the booklets the other boards hand out.
- What is the large data set?
- OCR says some statistics questions on H240/02 are set on the pre-release large data set. Treat that data set as part of the paper, not as optional reading.
